Laura Bishop, artisan and metalsmith of Artemis Metalworks, attended Portland Jewelry Academy where she studied metalsmithing in sterling silver, gold and platinum. There she was introduced to wax carving and the lost wax method of casting precious metals, as well as stone setting methods and techniques. Educated as a Landscape Architect, Laura applies her Bachelor of Arts knowledge to create metalworks that are both artistic and functional.
Laura is an avid outdoorswoman and spends her free time hiking, backpacking, camping and enjoying the wild places of the west where she gains inspiration for her jewelry pieces. She also enjoys writing and is working on a novel. The mother of two incredible grown children, Laura is fortunate to also be blessed with her daughter-in-law and two wonderful granddaughters, her dog, Goldie, two grandpups, Riley and Beattle, and her horses Attila and Smokie.
